Oscars 2013 Best Dressed List

Oscars 2013 Best Dressed List

Here we go again... it's Monday. I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! I had the perfect combination of fun and relaxation this weekend, with a little bit of work I had to do thrown in there.

Friday night I went to dinner and then out to a great bar with a group of friends, which was super fun. I'll be posting some restaurant, bar and club suggestions, along with pictures and other fun things soon. Those will probably be some of my favorite posts -- I love different places and different atmospheres (ranging from quaint cafes to exquisite fine dining, and from dive bars to exclusive nightclubs) and always have a great time going to all of these fabulous places.

Saturday I was able to sleep in which was great, but then had to knock out some work which had me glued to my computer. After getting dinner with a friend, I decided to stay in for the night to just be lazy and watch Netflix, and ended up skyping two friends who attend University of South Carolina too. It's always nice to catch up with them, away from just texting.

Sunday was obviously dedicated to the oscars and to my party. Although it was low-key, it was such a hit! The oscars are always great to watch, and congrats to all of the winners, although all of the nominees were worthy of a win. Which brings me to today's post...

OSCARS 2013 BEST DRESSED LIST

This is my best dressed list, although there were many great contenders. There was definitely a theme of light and pale colored dresses, which I think is a trend that is very versatile. Note that these dresses aren't in any particular order of favorite, I had a hard enough time picking just five.

1) Charlize Theron in Christian Dior Couture. She looked absolutely stunning. The white peplum looked great on her figure, and did not look the least bit bridal, which can sometimes be a concern for an all-white dress. The jewel accents on the peplum add a little sparkle, but are also very subtle which keeps it classy. I liked her simple accessories, with just the earrings and bracelets. And she absolutely rocks the pixie cut, which is styled perfectly. Wow.

2) Jessica Chastian in Giorgio Armani Prive. Jessica was channeling old hollywood glamour with this look. The fully beaded gown went perfectly with her hair and skin tone, with a pop of color added by the red lipstick. I loved how the diagonal beading complemented her figure nicely, and the Harry Winston jewels are always on point. Great choice, as always Jessica.

3) Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen. Now, I'm normally not a huge fan of Amanda Seyfried's award show looks but I thought she knocked this one out of the park. The color and cut of this gown is absolutely stunning on her, and her hair goes so well with the dress. She looked so poised and beautiful, and I hope her red carpet looks continue on this road.

4) Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta. I am usually a fan of sleeker, more fitted gowns, but I thought Amy Adams' Oscar de la Renta was gorgeous. The fitted sweetheart bodice showed off her tiny waist, and the full frothy textured skirt was divine. She looked incredible, and the pale blue/greyish color went wonderfully with her skin tone and hair color.

5) Naomi Watts in Giorgio Armani Prive. Naomi Watts looked stunning in this Armani Prive gown. The unique cut of the dress is hard to pull off, however she did it effortlessly. The bullet color is a great color to contrast with her light skin tone and hair color, and the sleek dress showed off her figure quite nicely. And there's that Harry Winston again...so great.

While those were my top five picks, other notable well-dressed women were: Samantha Barks in Valentino (simple, but classic with a beautiful plunging neckline), Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior Haute Couture (absolutely beautiful and unique dress, although it seemed a bit bridal for me -- still loved it), Halle Berry in Versace (she will never age, I swear) and Jennifer Garner in Gucci (loved the color and ruffles in the back).

What were your favorite Oscar looks? How did you feel about the winners? Comment and share with me!
